A free reliable resource for studying Biblical Aramaic Vocabulary

Today’s post features a link to a wonderful website that contains vocabulary quizzes and flashcards for Biblical Aramaic –  https://quizlet.com/subject/aramaic/. I have found the website “quizlet.com” to be helpful for reviewing vocabulary and grammar from past studies of New Testament Greek and Old Testament Hebrew. As one gains proficiency in any language, vocabulary acquisition and retention can be the most challenging.

For those desiring to supplement an already existing program, class or regiment of study of Biblical Aramaic, this Aramaic vocabulary quiz will prove highly beneficial (and free) tool. Since it is based off of the standard Hebrew/Aramaic reference work by Larry Mitchell: “A Student’s Vocabulary for Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic”, the reliability of this flashcard program is pretty solid. Mitchell’s work teaches the student to memorize vocabulary based upon the frequency of its appearance in the Hebrew/Aramaic Old Testament text.  http://www.amazon.com/Students-Vocabulary-Biblical-Hebrew-Aramaic/dp/0310454611/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437771291&sr=8-1&keywords=Hebrew+Aramaic+vocabulary.)

To now have an electronic flashcard program available online that is based upon a proven tool is truly a great aid. May all who read this post be blessed and have fun as you begin your study of Biblical Aramaic!

About pastormahlon

By the grace of God I was converted to saving faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 10 and called into the Gospel ministry by age 17. Through the Lord's grace I completed a Bachelors in Bible at Lancaster Bible College in 1996 and have been married to my beautiful wife since that same year. We have been blessed with four children, ranging from 7-18 years of age. In 2002 the Lord enabled me to complete a Master of Arts in Christian Thought at Biblical Theological Seminary, Hatfield PA. For nearly 25 years I have been preaching and teaching God's Word and have been studying the original languages since 1994. In 2016 God called my family and me to move to begin a pastorate at a wonderful Southern Baptist Congregation here in Northern New York.
